Please note the studio will be open limited hours for the month of January. We will be open Tuesdays 10am -9pm (adults only after 6pm)
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10am to 6pm. The studio will be closed on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. In addition the studio will close on Sunday 22nd January for a week and will reopen on Saturday 28th January. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Normal hours will be resumed in February.

We loved the run up to Christmas (even if it was on occasions very stressful trying to find a surface to put things on) and were overwhelmed with the positive feedback and demand for our signature baubles in particular. Park View looked very festive with all the independent shops putting on a great display and even better, everyone’s pottery was available on time at Hotpotz with the kilns firing to capacity every day!
Next year brings some new developments at Hotpotz, so remember to drop by regularly for an update. Our Facebook page and Twitter feeds will be featuring our Potz of the Week and it’s your opportunity to show off your skills and creative flair.

Brrr. Just got back from my holidays and I can tell that Autumn has arrived at Hotpotz. As I write this I note there are 81 days till Christmas. We have our Christmas stock in and I was amazed when I looked in the kiln room at how many people are really organised with their gifts this year. Halloween is also coming and we have some great ideas for Trick or Treat night. Why not check our gallery and be inspired.                               Smallprint are here again on October 7th and November 11th and we are currently taking bookings for their beautiful silver keepsake jewellery. Well summer is here at Hotpotz and Whitley Bay is basking in the sunshine (as I write this anyway). The Fathers Day rush is over and we turn our thoughts to our Annual Summer Workshops. Here on Park View we have some fantastic new shops opening and one in particular has caught my eye called Ziggy’s Chews. It a shop dedicated to dogs and has all sorts of poochy paraphernalia. Don’t forget that here at Hotpotz we welcome painting pooches too. Our own Labrador Rafa and some of his friends have been very busy making mugs and clay imprints with their paw prints. They look great and are great fun to do.

Well the wedding fever is over now and we move on to thoughts of Summer and Father’s Day on the 19th June.  Dad’s are traditionally always hard to buy gifts for so why not go for the personal touch and hand paint him something original. Valentines Day is here and romance is certainly not dead at Hotpotz. In the month of April the whole of the country will be celebrating the wedding of Kate and Wills, but here at Hotpotz we will be raising a glass to Alison and Gary whose wedding plans began here at Hotpotz with a ‘Proposal on a Plate’. As we speak, the wedding favours have been painted for all of the guests, but I can’t reveal the surprise just yet, you’ll have to wait until after the couple’s big day. ‘The Perfect Place to Paint Pottery’ also celebrates our 2nd Birthday in our Park View studio on February 14th so we have plenty to celebrate. We would like to thank all of our customers who have been such fantastic support since we opened. Hotpotz continues to offer fantastic value for money, and we are committed to keeping our prices low and have thereore absorbed the VAT increase as our birthday present to you, so good news there. It’s scandalous how affordable we are.

Christmas is just around the corner and Hotpotz is bursting at the seams with lots of new pottery shapes for the festive season. For the children we have our new licensed Disney range, complete with Mickey, Minnie, Lightening McQueen, Snow White, Grumpy and more. We have a huge range of baubles and tree decorations for all the family to paint including great shapes which work well for Baby’s first Christmas handprints. We also have gorgeous Santa Claus, Rudolph and Snowman items including plates for treats, snowman salt and pepper pots, butter knives and a range of Christmas mugs, all of which can be personalised and make the ideal gifts for family and friends.

Summer’s here already and if the weather isn’t quite right for the beach then how about occupying the kids with some Pottery Painting. In addition to the usual ‘pop in & paint’ we are also running our Wednesday Workshops each week for kids aged 7+. Themes include ‘claying around’, portrait plates and something fishy’. Sessions run from 10.30 till 12.30 each Wednesday and cost is £10 per child, although places are strictly limited so booking is essential. We have some great new shapes in for the summer, including a lighthouse, dolphins and my own personal favourite the cute crab!
It has been a very exciting time at Hotpotz recently. We were lucky enough to have CBeebies filming a new show in our studio called Mighty Mites. We really enjoyed meeting Go Joe and Sarah Jane, whom some of you probably know as Mr Tumble’s sidekick in Higgledy House. Congratulations also go out to Gary and Alison. Last month Hotpotz was commissioned by Gary to paint a plate with a marriage proposal on it and we are absolutely thrilled to hear from Alison that she said ‘Yes’. Brilliant news.
